The 6th “Annual” Symposium will take place… Spring 2022!

Usually, by this time of year, we would have announced the Call for Proposals, along with the specific dates and location for our fall event.

But this remains an unusual time.

The event committee gathered, and we concluded that holding another online-only event in the fall of 2021 would be possible, but not preferable. For one thing, as the country opens up, our thoughts turn to reconnecting in person with family and friends, to enjoying the outside world, and doing all those things that we’ve been unable to do for so long. We all agreed that we should focus on that, and give ourselves, collectively, a bit of a break.

We’re going to try something new. We’re moving our annual event to the Spring, which will mean that the word “annual” might need an asterisk from now on! So, mark your calendars for:

  • The Symposium taking place in the first full week of April, 2022
  • The Symposium being primarily face-to-face in the DC area, with online attendance and presentation as an option
  • The Call for Proposals being announced no earlier than October 1, 2021

I the meantime, we are planning to host some free online symposium-related events this fall. As a community, it will be nice to have a couple of check-in opportunities.

And, we will throughout the year be posting publicly-available recordings of the last Symposium. The first of these postings was the recording of the Overlays Panel.

For now, please stay safe and well through what we hope to be the final stages of this pandemic. Look for more announcements soon.

Cheers for now,

Chris M. Law, Symposium Chair
